Standard in Your Own Words: The educator comprehends and applies main concepts from their specific discipline, constructs memorable and engaging learning experiences by being open to growth and remaining inquisitive throughout the teaching process.
Indicator: 4 (n) Has a deep knowledge of student content standards and learning progressions in the discipline(s) s/he teaches.
Description of Artifact: This artifact consisted of a lesson plan I made taking into consideration the grade level of the content. I read them a book on epic which is very popular with current elementary age students. Then after, I tried to reinforce important concepts and key details by playing an engaging video that summarized essential key details from the story.
Rationale: This artifact demonstrates my ability to meet the standard by finding an accessible resource (online book) on epic books for kids, creating meaningful and engaging curriculum for students by showing a student friendly reiteration of the story we read on The Boy Who Cried Wolf. The students were very engaged by the video, hence reinforcing their comprehension of the story and ability to recall key details.
